Qatar Airways
recently added Las Vegas to its American flight destinations with
plans to offer nonstop trips to the Nevada city four times a week
beginning in 2018.
The route, which will connect McCarran
International Airport to Hamad International Airport in Doha, marks
Qatar’s 11th American route. It also will be the first
to provide regular flights to Las Vegas from the gulf region.
“Las Vegas
is a thriving leisure destination, and adding the city to our route
map has been long overdue,” Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group
chief executive, said. “Growing our western United States network
is important to the airline, as we are seeing exponential growth in
passenger demand from the East via our state of the art hub in Doha.”
Las Vegas will
join Los Angeles as the two western U.S. destinations the airline
serves. The airline said the decision was based in part on customer
demand.
“Our passengers
appreciate the glamour, style and allure of Las Vegas, and beginning
in 2018, we are going to give our passengers from around the world
direct and convenient access to this unique capital of
entertainment,” Al Baker said.
Qatar Airways currently flies to Atlanta, Boston,
Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York
City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
