Hamad airport earns prestigious honor

Hamad International Airport, the home hub of Qatar Airways, recently earned the first "5-Star Airport" award in the Middle East. It becomes only the sixth airport in the world to achieve the honor.

"This just proves that Qatar Airways passengers enjoy a five-star experience on the ground in our Doha home, as well as in the air in our thoroughly modern fleet," Akbar Al Baker, chief executive of Qatar Airways Group, said. "We are thrilled to have received this well-deserved accolade, and on behalf of Qatar Airways, I would like to offer congratulations to everyone involved in making this exquisite airport a reality."

The Skytrax “5-Star Airport” rating is given to airports that the United Kingdom-based service deems provide the highest overall quality performance. It is based on factors like customer service, airport facilities, shopping outlets, immigration and security.

The Hamad airport has earned several awards since its 2014 opening, including the “Best Airport Award” at the 2015 Future Travel Experience Asia Awards and being named the Middle East's best airport by Skytrax in both 2015 and 2016.

"Hamad International Airport is built around what is most important for our passengers: convenience and service, delivered in a setting that is more than just thoughtful and welcoming, but beautiful as well," Al Baker said. "The Qatar Airways experience is truly replicated in this stunning building, and we are now more proud than ever to call it our home."
