UAE University eases burden with electronic assistance

United Arab Emirates University recently launched a comprehensive electronic academic advising program that will let students and their real-life advisers track their coursework and make sure they are on the best academic path.

Known as Degree Works, the program will advise students on the courses they need to graduate based on their academic level and requirements. Academic advisers will be able to see where students are on their academic journeys.

"We hope that the program will achieve the expected results for the students and the university," Vice Chancellor Mohamed Albaili said. "It will not replace the role of the academic advisers in helping and counseling students on how to prepare their study plans according to their abilities and professional goals."

UAEU is a comprehensive, research-intensive university offering a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in nine colleges. Approximately 14,000 students are currently enrolled.
