The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a seminar on “Governance of Information Security” at the chamber’s tower. The chamber is offering a series of seminars and workshops this year for public and private companies in Abu Dhabi and throughout the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Mohammed
Helal Al-Muhairi, director general of chamber, said the seminar grew out of an increased interest in governance programs, which companies see as being able to boost efficiency, productivity and
profits.
Azhar
Zia-ur-Rehman, an international expert in IT governance and the main speaker
at the seminar, pointed out problems that can come when companies fail to have proper information security
in place. He said data breaches and other failures by incomplete information security systems can cause significant problems
for companies and consumers. Consumers can have their information
stolen, while the company can lose its reputation.
