Strategic
partnerships between university students, the community and the
professional world was the focus of a recent discussion at the first
meeting of the advisory board to the College of Law at Ajman
University (AU).
The board said such partnerships are key
for AU, as students must be prepared when they leave school to deal with a
changing job market, and it’s AU’s responsibility to help bridge
the gap between academia and the professional world. The advisory
board also set goals for achieving leadership of excellence in higher
education at both the local and regional levels, and discussed places
where students could gain experience through field training.
Abdul Wahab
Abdool, former president of the Federal Supreme Court, led the
meeting, which included Saif Shanem Al Suwaidi, dean of the Dubai
Police Academy; Jamal Al Sumaiti, director general of the Dubai
Judicial Institute; Zayed Al Shamsi, director of the Emirates
Lawyers Association; Latifa Humaid Al Jumaili, dean of the College of
Law at AU; and Issa Ghasaan, faculty member of the College of Law,
Fujairah Campus.
