Abu Dhabi chamber hosts Abu Dhabi-Belgium Business Forum

The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently announced the organization the Abu Dhabi-Belgium Business Forum in Abu Dhabi.

Attending the forum in Abu Dhabi were Belgian Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter de Crem; Dominique Mineur; Belgium ambassador to the UAE; Dr. Al-Taher Musbeh Al-Kindi, 2nd deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce; and Abu Dhabi chamber board members Sanad Al-Miqbali, Ahmed Al Soudin, Hamad Al-Awadhi and Khan Zaman, the chamber said in a release. Chamber Director General Mohammed Helal Al-Muhair and more than 150 representatives of Emirati and Belgian companies were also at the forum.

“We aim toward establishing a strategic economic partnership that grants us the ability to benefit from your expertise and advanced technologies which meet the demand of economic development of Abu Dhabi,” Al-Kindi said in the release. “(Belgian companies) can also benefit from the development projects, which the emirate is witnessing in order to support the sustainable development process in cooperation with specialized national companies operating in this domain.”

Belgian Secretary of State for Foreign Trade de Crem talked about the importance of trade between the two countries, noting that Belgium is the fifth largest exporter for the UAE.

“The imports of Belgium from the UAE is estimated at ($9.8 billion),” de Crem said in the release. “On the international level, the UAE occupies the 16th place in the list of international partners to Belgium, which makes it the most important trade partner to Belgium in the Arab world.”
