The Dubai
Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted the
UAE-Latvia Business forum to discuss enhancing
trade relations and economic cooperation between the two nations.
The Latvian
delegation to the forum at the Dubai chamber's headquarters was led by Latvia President Raimonds Vejonis and included the
country’s deputy prime minister and economy minister, Arvils Aseradens, the Dubai chamber said in a release.
Also participating in the forum were Dubai chamber Chairman Majid Saif Al Ghurai; chamber CEO and President Hamad Buamim; Andris Ozols, director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA); and several UAE-based business leaders and representatives from Latvia’s private sector.
Al Ghurair
gave a welcome speech at the event, noting the importance of the relationship
between the two countries, the release said. He talked about the strategic significance of Dubai and its location that provides Latvian companies access to consumer markets in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Ghurair said the UAE also has a world-class logistics infrastructure that
Latvian companies can benefit from.
Omar Khan, director of international offices for the Dubai chamber, also spoke at the meeting,
delivering a presentation on Dubai’s economy. He showcased the range of
services the Dubai chamber can offer to Latvian companies.
Aseradens and Ozols spoke about the Latvian business environment and climate at the forum, the release said.
