The Dubai
Health Authority (DHA) recently announced that Dr. Layla Al Marzouqi, director of DHA’s Medical Tourism Council, was elected chairwoman of the World Travel
and Tourism Council during the Global Healthcare Travel Forum in Amman, Jordan.
Al Marzouqi becomes the first Emirati woman to hold the position.
The forum,
held under the patronage of King Abdullah II bin Al Hussain of Jordan, brought
together more than 500 medical professionals from around the globe who sought
to gain knowledge on medical and wellness tourism.
Humaid Al
Qatami, chairman of the board and director general of the DHA, said the
chair position is important as it is an opportunity to showcase advanced models of
medical tourism.

noted that Dubai’s win reflects the vision of Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, as
well as the continuous support of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashd Al
Maktoum, crown prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai, finance minister and president of the DHA.
