The Dubai
Health Authority (DHA) recently won a bid to host the
World Congress of Cardiology & Cardiovascular Health in 2018.
“The 2018
congress will focus on prevention with the global objective of reducing
premature mortality by reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases by 25
percent by 2020,” David Wood, president of the World Heart Federation, said.
The
congress will take place at the Dubai World Trade Center from Dec. 5 to 8,
2018. The global interactive event will bring together cardiovascular disease
specialists, where they will share knowledge with specialists from other
disciplines to promote cardiovascular health.
“Dubai proved to be a successful host of the World Congress
of Cardiology in 2012, and it is a testament to the emirate’s reputation as a strong business events destination that the congress
is returning so soon,” Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai
Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, said. “The event will bring
thousands of additional visitors to Dubai and further enhance its status as a
knowledge hub. Dubai Business Events, the city’s official convention bureau, will
assist the World Heart Federation, Dubai Health Authority and other key
stakeholders in planning for the event in 2018 and ensuring it leaves a strong
legacy.”
