The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently participated in the global Earth Hour campaign by turning off its lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 25.
This is the
10th consecutive year that the Dubai Chamber has participated in the
global campaign. The Dubai Chamber said it was supported in the endeavor by global
organizations, public and private sectors and Dubai authorities.
The campaign
was created to raise awareness about climate change and showcase the importance
of saving energy and protecting the Earth for future generations.
“The chamber’s support to Earth Hour is part of our corporate social responsibility
efforts as the organization believes in preserving the environment while
promoting sustainable practices to make our city a better place to work and
live,” Essa Al Zaabi, senior vice-president of the institutional support sector at Dubai Chamber, said. “Also, through this campaign we are
able to encourage and inspire our staff members and the wider business
community to participate in Earth Hour and adopt measures to conserve energy
throughout the year.”
