Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently said that Qatar has signed an agreement with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to provide a multiyear financial contribution of $40 million to support the office.
The agreement was signed by Qatar Fund for Development Director-General Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien in the presence of Qater Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed at the17th Doha Forum, a ministry release said.
The ministry said that according to 2016 statistics from the United Nations, the State of Qatar ranks second on the list of 10 countries supporting humanitarian affairs.
