The United Arab Emirates University issued the following announcement on.

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the United Arab Emirates University held a seminar on research in teaching and learning on Sunday 7th of February in the theatre in the College of Information Technology. Five faculty have enrolled in an international program about research methods in teaching, learning and educational leadership. This involves e-learning as well as traditional learning and is run jointly by UAEU and the University of British Columbia, Canada.

Professor Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Professor Harry Hubbard, director of the program from the University of British Columbia, honored the first graduates and stressed how these programs develop skills prized by leading global universities.

The graduates presented research projects on academic innovation, supervising Doctoral students and incorporating practical legal skills into the College of Law curricula.

The graduates were: Dr. Tawfiq Al Zubaidi, Chair of the Department of Statistics; Professor Dr. Hassan Mohammad Salem, Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning; Dr. Khaula Al Kaabi, CEO of Innovation and the Chair of the Department of Geography and Urban Planning; Dr. Salma Daiban, Deputy Director of the Program and Curriculum Office, and Dr. Abdullah Al Khatib, Supervisor of the Legal Clinic in the College of Law.
