DUBAI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY: Dubai Chamber marks Month of Reading with book fair and donations

Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on April 11.

As part of its efforts to support and promote the UAE’s Month of Reading, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently organised a number of events with the aim of fostering a culture of reading within the society.

Last month, the Chamber hosted a book fair at its premises which was visited by many Chamber staff who bought books and donated their own reading materials.

Following the book fair, the Chamber donated a total of 1,421 books to the UAE Red Crescent. Among the donated books were titles authored by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler Dubai, in addition to several other others covering a wide range of genres and topics such as business setup in Dubai, Expo 2020, Dubai’s strategic vision and plans, and UAE history.

Rami Halawani, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Dubai Chamber, stressed the importance of supporting the Month of Reading as the national initiative brings together different segments of society and positions reading as a cultural value in the UAE.

“There is a clear correlation between societies with strong reading cultures, high productivity and academic achievement. We aim to encourage our staff to make reading a habit and spread the love of reading with others by donating their own books for a good cause,” he said.

Dubai Chamber has expanded its charitable and educational activities in recent years through its growing network of international offices. Last year, the Chamber marked the Year of Giving by donating educational materials to underprivileged schools in Mozambique, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan and Ghana.
