Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry issued the following announcement on April 24.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is set to announce the top three winners of the 3rd edition the Dubai Smartpreneur Competition during the closing ceremony of the ArabNet Digital Summit 2018 on May 1st.
Ten submissions were shortlisted in the final round of the competition, and the finalists will be required to present their ideas at ArabNet. The top 10 candidates are: Airspace Blockchain Co., a blockchain-based digital logbooks for aircraft maintenance engineers; BYKRIDERS.com LLC, a platform providing instant delivery solutions; Grape Technology, a provider of blockchain applications for businesses and government entities; Intuitio AI, an artificial intelligence-based startup specialising in solving global and local mobility challenges; TeleDoc, a comprehensive telemedicine and patient-centric platform using artificial intelligence; Tuitify, a multimedia digital platform designed to capture and share relevant knowledge and information; Wajbati, a social enterprise aiming to reduce food waste; WakeCap Tech FZ LLC, a safety and tracking device providing real-time and cloud-based visibility on worker attendance, live-location, and accidents; Yanzo, an on-demand personal assistant using automation and human interfaces; and YoRipe, a digital platform designed to improve food supply chain efficiency.
This year’s judging panel is joined by Kushal Shah, Managing Partner – ME, Roland Berger; Pelin Sahin, COO of Startupbootcamp; Hussain Ali, CEO of Ejadah; Sebastian Stefan, CEO of LoadME; Fahad Al Bannai, CEO of Axiom Telecom; Yousef Al Assaf, President of RIT Dubai; Karim Qassoud, Associate, Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing; Hans Christensen, Director of Dubai Technology Entrepreneurship Center – DSO; Alia Al Mazrouei, COO of Almazrouie Investment; Andriy Radchenko, Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co.; Rekha Setpal, Head of Community Services at in5 & Dubai Internet City; Anna-Liisa Googs, COO of Consult and Coach for a Cause; Saif Al Shafar, Vice Chairman of Al Shafar Investment; and Khalid Al Fahim, Director of Business Development, Dubai World Trade Centre.
More than 300 innovative business ideas were submitted in the current cycle of the competition, which fall under three specific categories, namely Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation. During the initial round, 50 candidates were initially shortlisted, before the top 10 finalists were selected by an expert panel of judges.
The top three winners will receive a total of AED 150,000 in cash prizes and access to training and support, while the winners will also get the chance to participate in other entrepreneurship-focused programmes and initiatives offered by Dubai Startup Hub.
The Dubai Smartpreneur Competition gives startups and entrepreneurs in the UAE an opportunity to become part of the Dubai Government’s Strategy to elevate the city into a global platform for innovation-focused businesses.
The competition, organised under Dubai Startup Hub in cooperation with Smart Dubai, falls in line with Dubai Chamber’s comprehensive strategy that aims to nurture and develop Dubai’s entrepreneurial eco-system.
Launched as an initiative of Dubai Chamber in 2016, Dubai Startup Hub is an interactive platform that connects startups, entrepreneurs, developers, venture capitalists and students, enabling them to learn about new opportunities and create new partnerships that stimulate economic growth.
