ABU DHABI UNIVERSITY: College of Business Launches its Visiting Senior Researcher Fellow Program 2018-2019

Abu Dhabi University issued the following announcement on Feb. 4.

The Visiting Senior Researcher Fellow Program 2018-2019 aims to improve the research capabilities and productivity of faculty through collaboration with distinguished international scholars.

The program will contribute to the College, ADU, and the UAE community through valuable research output in areas relevant to national and regional strategic priorities (e.g. Abu Dhabi vision 2030).

We are proud to host Professor Thomas Lange on 24 February 2019.

A German born economist and applied statistician by training, Professor Thomas Lange (Ph.D. FRSA CAHRI) serves as Head of the Department of Management, Leadership and Organisations and professorial Chair in Management at Middlesex University Business School. Through his strategic leadership of the department, he pursues a research-intensive philosophy of academic excellence in support of an exceptional student experience. Previous leadership positions include Research Dean, Executive Dean and Pro Vice Chancellor in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia.

Professor Lange is a leading authority in the empirical transformational leadership, human resources and organizational behavior research arena. He is Editor-in-Chief of Evidence-based HRM: A Global Forum for Empirical Scholarshipand Associate Editor of the International Journal of Manpower. He is also an Editorial Board member of the British Journal of Management. An author and editor of over 200 scholarly outputs, his recent journal publications have appeared in The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Vocational Behavior, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, European Journal of Industrial Relations, and Human Resource Management (US).

A multi-disciplinarian at heart, his work attempts to form a unified whole at the interface between work/life conditions, workplace psychology and transformational leadership, in support of a socially more cohesive work and life environment.

Professor Thomas Clarke - 17 – 22 November 2018

Thomas Clarke is Professor of Management at the University of Technology Sydney and the inaugural Sir Adrian Cadbury Scholar in Corporate Governance of the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN). He is a member of the UTS Centre for Business and Social Innovation.

Professor Clarke has written a number of books including Changing Paradigms: The Transformation of Management Knowledge for the 21st Century [Harper Collins 2000], Theories of Corporate Governance [London: Routledge 2004], International Corporate Governance[London: Routledge Second Edition 2017], European Corporate Governance [London: Routledge 2009], and The Global Financial Crisis and Regulatory Response: A Concise Guide[Cambridge University Press 2019]. He has edited The Handbook of Corporate Governance[London: Sage 2011] and Innovation in the Asia Pacific [Springer 2018].

He was section editor for Sustainability and Corporate Governance for the Journal of Business Ethics (FTSE 50 Journal) and has been published widely in Corporate Governance: An International Review, Human Relations, Long Range Planning, Critical Perspectives in Accounting, Seattle University Law Review, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, International Journal of Management Reviews, and Economic and Industrial Democracy.

He is currently editing the Elements in Corporate Governance series for Cambridge University Press and The Oxford Handbook of the Corporation (2019). He researches and writes on the integration of corporate governance and corporate sustainability, and on innovation and technological transformation.

Professor Constantine Katsikeas - 26 January – 1 February 2019

Constantine S. Katsikeas is the Arnold Ziff Research Chair and Professor of Marketing and International Management, and the Founder and Director of the Global and Strategic Marketing Research Center at Leeds University Business School (LUBS), University of Leeds. He served as Department Chair from 2004 - 2010 and 2014 - 2016, and as Associate Dean for Faculty from 2011 - 2016. He was Vice President of the Academy of Marketing Science between 2012 and 2014. He also served as Faculty Executive Board Member in LUBS from 2007 - 2010 and from 2014 - 2016. Prior to this, he held the Sir Julian Hodge Chair in Marketing and International Business at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. He holds a B.Sc. from Athens University of Economics and Business, an M.A. from Lancaster University, and a Ph.D. from Cardiff University. His doctoral studies were supported by a scholarship from the ONASSIS Foundation. He has significant business experience in sales and international management.

His interests are global marketing and exporting, sales management, cross-border relationships, strategic alliances, and competitive strategy. He has published widely, and his articles have appeared in Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of International Business Studies, Decision Sciences, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of World Business, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Management International Review, Long Range Planning, and International Marketing Review. He is the recipient of the American Marketing Association's 2013 and 2015 Excellence in Global Marketing Award for outstanding research, which has significantly influenced the direction of global marketing, the 2006 Hans B. Thorelli 5-Year Research Award by the American Marketing Association Foundation, and the 1999 S. Tamer Cavusgil Award for the best Journal of International Marketing article that advances the practice of international marketing management.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of International Marketing, published by the American Marketing Association, Editor–Marketing of Journal of International Business Studies, published by the Academy of International Business, and Area Editor of Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, published by the Academy of Marketing Science. He was Associate Editor of British Journal of Management (2004 – 2007) and serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Management International Review, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, and British Journal of Management, Journal of Marketing Management. He is an active member of the American Marketing Association, Academy of International Business, Academy of Marketing Science, and European Marketing Academy. He has led management development courses on strategic marketing, direct marketing, international management and export management, sales management, key account management, and competitive strategy. He has taught managers from a wide range of organizations including Toyota, Delhaize Le Lion, Aramco, Coca Cola, Atkins, Siemens, Boehringer Ingelheim, Sabic, Nadec, Philip Morris, Minerva, Audi, Mitsui Chemicals, Fortnum & Mason, A1 Telekom Austria, Mercedes-Benz, FirstPlus, Prozone, AB Vassilopoulos, GlaxoSmithKline, and Johnson & Johnson.
