JCDecaux, a French advertising company specializing in outdoor marketing, recently won a 10-year contract to handle advertising operations at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport (PMIA) in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
The contract will be handled by JCDecaux ATA, a subsidiary of JCDecaux, and gives the company control over all advertising at the airport, both outdoors and in the terminals.
The new Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport is intended to serve the ever-increasing number of pilgrims and professionals traveling through Medina, Islam’s second holiest city. As Saudi Arabia’s fourth-busiest airport, the old terminal served nearly 6 million passengers last year. The new airport is expected to serve more than 8 million passengers going forward.
That means JCDecaux’s advertising installations will be getting plenty of attention. The firm is the world’s largest outdoor advertising company and already holds the contracts for all of Saudi Arabia’s other 26 airports.
The company will be installing pole-mounted digital screens as well as a number static displays. The company also will be responsible for ads posted on the passenger jet bridges connecting planes with terminals.
“It is exciting to be part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s infrastructural evolution,” Jean-Charles Decaux, the company’s co-CEO, said. “The new PMIA will showcase our capacity to transform the airport environment with innovative and premium communication offers, optimizing visibility for our clients.”
