SkyPower awarded solar energy contracts in Madhya Pradesh

SkyPower Global, the world’s largest utility-scale solar energy developer, said Thursday it has been awarded 150 megawatts of solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

SkyPower has had a presence in India for several years, carefully assessing the market while building its team both in the nation and globally as it prepared for the launch and the strategic deployment of numerous solar energy projects that will generate gigawatts of power.

Madhya Pradesh will be the first of SkyPower’s power projects in India with announcements on further efforts expected in the months ahead.

SkyPower has worked on solar developments in more than 60 countries on five continents, which gives the Canada-based company the unique ability to leverage its global purchasing power and experience to meet India’s energy needs.

SkyPower President and CEO Kerry Adler said the company’s global experience and diverse team allows them to meet solar demands around the world.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the nation’s Energy Minister Piyush Goyal have outlined ambitious plans for more solar power be to built into the nation’s infrastructure. SkyPower aims to be a major player in those plans.
