MAN lands another big order from Oman

MAN Diesel & Turbo is delivering another eight compressor trains to the state of Oman’s oil company, Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO).

Oman is a state rich in raw materials, a perfect place for the company to expand. Under the heading of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), PDO has placed an order with MAN for roughly $109 million. These compressors will be used to increase natural gas extraction as part of the state’s Rabab Harweel Integrated Project. With six other compressor trains by MAN installed last year, this is MAN’s biggest order in the company’s history.

"Rabab Harweel Integrated Project is one of our mega projects in Oman," Raoul Restucci, managing director of PDO, said. "As the easy oil supplies dwindle, EOR is going to account for an increasing part of our production portfolio. PDO is already a world leader in this area but we are now redoubling our efforts to ensure we maximize production from our fields."

The order calls for two high- and two low-pressure compressor chains for the acid gas application, and one high- and one low-pressure compressor trains for gas export. The machines will be ready for installation in Oman in December.
