Dubai Courts' popular Smart Petitions app won the Government IT Application Project of the Year Award at the recent  ITP Technology .Gov Awards.

The ITP Technology .Gov Awards is a yearly event in the Gulf Cooperation Council that showcases smart government achievements intended to leverage information technology to drive progress and improve the lives of citizens.

Abdulrahim Ahmad Almudhareb, IT director for Dubai Courts, said the award makes Smart Petitions one of the most successful government IT projects in the United Arab Emirates.

Smart Petitions is an interactive and integrated platform that allows users to track and manage their court petitions from anywhere at anytime.

“Innovation has been one of the main values at Dubai Courts, and for many years, we have demonstrated how electronic channels can be leveraged to provide convenience, ease citizen’s lives, and create more happiness,” Almudhareb said.

The OutSystems platform was used to develop the technology for the Smart Petitions app. The application offers a set of services that automate various processes within Dubai’s court system. Smart Petitions simplifies and digitizes the process of case petitions, from filing, review, follow-up, inquiry, fee payment and all the way through to seeing case decisions.

The Smart Petitions app is available on all mobile and Web platforms, and has more than 600 active users, with more than 13,000 petitions already submitted online using the app. More than 9,600 Dubai Courts decisions have now been made electronically.
