The University of Dubai recently launched the Dubai Smart View portal, developed to provide the public access to the various Dubai Smart Government electronic services, part of an effort by Dubai’s government to modernize its institutions.
Many of those services have been able to provide the most efficient means to access government amenities, such as the Dubai Courts Smart Petitions system, which allows users to file legal petitions through an online app.
The Dubai Smart View was designed to get electronic government services to the targeted segment of consumers who most need those services. Smart View was completed as a part of a capstone project undertaken by the university’s Information Technology undergraduate students.
The portal project was begun a year ago by a team of undergraduates made up of Islyn Fernandes, Khalid Najib, Arefeh Khaled, Amina Qassem and Ahmed Sufyan. The project was a long-term investigation intended to produce the Dubai Smart View final product.
The portal’s unveiling was attended by Eesa Bastaki, the president of the university.
“University of Dubai has made a commitment to work with the government entities and private companies in order to develop plans for smart cities in UAE such as Dubai,” Bastaki said. “We encourage our students to be part of these ongoing and exciting plans, and strive to be No. 1 in developing necessary technology for future generations.”
Dubai Smart View should help solve the problem of lack of awareness about the government’s entities and services available online.
