Grandweld Shipyards has signed new contracts with Global Marine Operation to design, build and deliver four new 42-meter crew boats.

The crew boats will become part of Global Marine’s fleet that provides offshore support for the oil and gas industry. The fleet consists of anchor handling tugboats, supply vessels and crew boats.

The contract was signed in between Jamal Abki, Grandweld’s general manager, and Shahram Nazemi, Global Marine’s managing director.

The new vessels will have seating for 69 people with 104 square meters of loading area, which can support more than 85 tons of cargo. The ships will have the capacity to travel at speeds over 25 knots.

Global Marine will use the new crew boats to make high-speed, heavy-weather crew changes for offshore drilling operations, emergency re-supply and special deck cargo. Global Marine will also rent the boats out for timed charters.

Grandweld has specialized in building such vessels since the company was founded in Dubai in 1984. The company has a fully integrated shipyard to build, repair and provide engineering solutions for the region’s maritime industry.

Grandweld Shipyards is part of Stanford Marine Group, which is comprised of shipbuilding services and Grandweld and Stanford Marine, which offers similar offshore charter services to Global Marine.
