More than 50 companies recently participated in the Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance (ADCCG) seminar on the topic of "Governance, Risk & Control for Family Owned Organizations."

Thornton assisted in the seminar which focused on the need for governance programs in
family owned companies.
His Excellency Mohammed Helal Al-Muhairi, Director
General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry made a point that companies
operating in the UAE were pioneers in adopting and implementing the concepts of
governance. Al-Muhairi added that governance has helped create better business environments in the
UAE which has seen an influx of regional and international companies.
“While adhering to the laws and regulations represents a key
aspect of governance, but the opportunities are available for Board of
Directors to benefit from these matters on a wide scale which ensures the
spreading of the culture of honesty and work ethics and supporting them on the
level of shareholders as well as working to found a culture that provides a
rich and wide range of ides that brings commercial business experiences with
exchanged discussion," Mohamad Nassar, Partner and Operational Advisory at Grant
Thornton, said .
In addition to Nassar, Anurag Chaturvedi, Director and IT Advisory at Grant Thornton, gave a presentation on corporate governance and planning company resources.
