AFIA International has expanded its operations into the Jeddah Port with an engineering contract awarded to Saudi Arabia-based Tebodin.
The project will include a large tank farm, boilers and an administration block. Tebodin will oversee all design work, including architecture, civil and structural engineering, piping, firefighting and electrical design, and tender management coordination.
"This project is of great importance to us, boosting our position in the Saudi market," Haytham El Rez, Tebodin’s country director for Saudi Arabia, said. "We are a young company and this project will allow us to secure a higher exposure for the Jeddah Islamic port projects, in addition to the future expansions of AFIA."
AFIA is part of the foods sector of Savola Group, which leads the market in the production of edible oils in Saudi Arabia.
The Savola Group began operations in 1979 as a manufacturer and marketer of edible oil and vegetable ghee in Saudi Arabia. Today, it is one of the fastest-growing multinational companies in the Gulf and the Middle East region, North Africa and Turkey.
