Bahrain-based urban developing company Diyar Al Muharraq signed an agreement with global infrastructure services company AECOM Oct. 12 to design the infrastructure for Diyar Al Muharraq.
Under the terms of the contract, AECOM will provide primary design and construction supervision for all the infrastructural components of Diyar Al Muharraq, including roads, grade separation, landscaping, environmental impact assessment and all transportation and logistics requirements and utilities.
Signing the agreement were Diyar's CEO, Maher Al Shaer, and AECOM's country manager, Craig Thackray, along with officials from both companies. The signing took place at the Diyar Al Muharraq headquarters at the Bahrain World Trade Centre.
"This agreement with AECOM marks a historical moment for Diyar Al Muharraq, one that will forever be known as a game-changing occasion," Al Shaer said. "Partnering with such an internationally-renowned organization in such a crucial and all-encompassing aspect of our enormous project is sure to instantly catapult our prestige to further heights, exponentially raise the standards of the quality of the amenities and facilities that we are set to offer and it will also serve well for us to deliver within the various, specific targeted dates of completion of our all-inclusive offering."
David Barwell, AECOM CEO in the Middle East and India, agreed with Al Shaer's sentiments.
"As the largest private urban development project in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Diyar Al Muharraq is set to substantially contribute to the nation's economy and also strengthen Bahrain's position as a hub for international trade in the region," he said.
Diyar Al Muharraq's master plan for Bahrain includes a variety of housing options, residential and commercial properties and an array of long-term projects to create personal and investment opportunities for residents.
