More than 600 participants from a cross section of government, municipalities, consultants, contractors and suppliers will gather in Dubai from Nov. 23-25 for the Third Arabian Tunneling Conference.
The conference will bring more than 30 key experts and professionals from various fields within the tunneling sector together to discuss key tunneling topics. Those aspects include design and planning of underground spaces, security and safety standards, maintenance of tunnels, and risk assessment.
The topic is especially timely given that major infrastructure projects are creating enormous opportunities for tunneling and underground space industry professionals in Gulf Cooperation Council nations.
Much of that opportunity is being driven by Dubai’s upcoming Expo 2020, metro train projects and other big infrastructure developments.
As a result of the increase in tunneling-related projects, the conference continues to draw more attendees each year.
“We have seen an increase in attendance from the previous editions of ATC and now that (the United Arab Emirates) is becoming a hotspot for tunnel construction, we are expecting even more attendees from around the globe,” Maged Hanna, general manager of the Society of Engineers-UAE, said.
Attendees at the conference also will visit key development sites in Dubai, and younger engineers will have a chance to learn and network with industry experts at a special forum to be held during the gathering at the Grand Hyatt Dubai.
