Trolley.ae launches virtual store service in Dubai metro stations

Dubai-based online grocery store Trolley.ae recently established a virtual store service at Dubai Metro stations.

Through the virtual store, commuters can grocery shop while waiting for their transportation. This is done with a small 3D touch screen in which shoppers select items from virtual shelves, check out and choose the time and location for their items to be delivered.

"We are bringing the store to the people of Dubai instead of asking them to come to the store itself," Omar Awwad, Trolley.ae CEO, said. "Time is precious, and we know that. Dubai is a fast-paced city, with people rushing around to attend to their busy lives. Instead of spending time going to the store for their grocery shopping, Trolley.aes Virtual Store harnesses Dubai's technological advancements in order to enable customers to shop on the go - which makes life easier after a busy day and also frees up more time to do the things that they actually want to do."

Trolley.ae offers groceries and fresh food delivery to the local market. The virtual store was developed in partnership with Etisalat and the Road and Transport Authority.

The first station store, which was launched Oct. 15, is now in operation at the Mall of the Emirates (MOE) Red Line Metro station.

Additional stores are planned at the Baniyas Square Green Line station and Red Line stations at Dubai Internet City, Damac (Dubai Marina), Financial Center (DIFC) and ADCB (Al Karama).
