M.H. Alshaya brings seven iconic American restaurants to Kuwait

Kuwait residents now have a unique dining destination that brings together seven well-loved American restaurant brands at one location.

The international retail franchise operator M.H. Alshaya Co. opened Sidra Restaurants in Mahboula, Kuwait Oct. 25. There, visitors can eat at American restaurants The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, Texas Roadhouse, Shake Shack, IHOP, Pinkberry and Starbucks.

Sidra’s opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by dignitaries, such as the U.S. Ambassador Douglas A. Silliman. M.H. Alshaya CEO Wassim Arabi was also on hand to do the ribbon-cutting honors.

Ambassador Silliman said the opening of Sidra stands as a powerful symbol of the influence of American culture in Kuwait.

“I am happy to celebrate the opening of Sidra with Alshaya and thank them for their demonstrable commitment to partnering with U.S. businesses and strengthening the ties between us,” Silliman said.

Sidra’s opening coincides with Kuwait’s Discover America Week, a yearly event celebrating the ties between the two cultures. Alshaya has been active in the event since the first one in 2013. Alshaya operates retail locations for more than 20 U.S.-based brands in the Middle East, including food, fashion, health and beauty and home furnishing brands.
