Service provider GBI has joined DE-CIX in Frankfurt, Germany, and UAE-IX in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which are both global Internet exchanges of DE-CIX.
GBI is a multi-layer carrier neutral network that provides connectivity to the Middle East.
“Internet traffic growth is exploding in the Middle East," Harald Summa, DE-CIX CEO, said. "We welcome such a robust carrier to our DE-CIX Frankfurt and UAE-IX exchanges because of the important traffic that GBI will transport to and from the Middle East."
GBI has also joined the DE-CIX Partner Program, making the company an official DE-CIX reseller.
“GBI has a critical role in ensuring the high quality of the Internet in the Middle East," Summa said. "We also welcome their participation in our Partner Program, as this will expand the number of service providers from a broad geographic region that can interconnect and peer with key global carriers."
Amr Eid, GBI's chief commercial officer, agreed with Summa's remarks.
“The massive capacity growth projections for the Middle East have prompted a rethink of the industry’s business model," Eid said. "GBI focuses on ensuring Internet traffic is transported and managed across a reliable, diverse and secure network. That is why DE-CIX and UAE-IX are key elements to our strategy. We look forward to providing greater value to our allies, partners and the whole value chain.”
