Qatar Airways recently reached an agreement with Royal Air Maroc to provide more flights between Qatar and Morocco to increase travel and business.
And the agreement has been well-received.
“The reception to this joint business has been very good,” Qatar Airways Vice President Africa Jared Lee told Gulf News Journal. “Royal Air Maroc and Qatar Airways first announced our intent to collaborate in Dubai last May at the Arabian Travel Market, and we are delighted to now offer our customers new, seamless services between North and West Africa, Qatar and the world."
Lee then spoke to what the next phase is for Royal Air Maroc.
"There has always been great excitement about the potential between Qatar and Morocco and the markets beyond both Doha and Casablanca. Currently, Qatar Airways is flying seven times a week to Casablanca. As the next phase of the joint business, Royal Air Maroc recently launched three flights a week to Doha, meaning we now have 10 flights per week in total.”
Flights between Qatar and Morocco have also increased from seven to 10 times weekly. The increase in air traffic also means an increase in business travel and tourism to both destinations.
“The joint business will definitely boost tourism and business as Morocco is a highly popular destination for our passengers from Qatar – there are more than 40 destinations made available through this partnership, such as Marrakech, Fez, Agadir and Rabat. Similarly passengers from West and North Africa can fly to Doha to connect to more than 70 key business and tourist destinations in Asia and the Middle East,” Lee said.
With tourism and travel increases, ticket prices may become a concern. Qatar promises to do their best to keep prices competitive and make the booking process hassle free.

This new agreement also allows passengers to purchase a single itinerary combining flights on both Royal Air Maroc’s and Qatar Airways’ global networks, which would give them access to one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in.
In addition, all 10 flights a week are being operated with the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner by both carriers.
The new modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner holds up to 242 to 335 seats, has international Wi-Fi capability, electronically dimmable windows (the largest in the industry), larger overhead storage space, up to five more inches of legroom in the main cabin and, for the business travelers, business suites with seats that convert to fully lie-flat 77-inch beds or a unique zero gravity lounge position.
Qatar Airways is also offering a valuable service to frequent flyers.
“Qatar Airways’ joint business with Royal Air Maroc will offer much broader opportunities for passengers who will benefit from a greater choice of flights and connectivity to destinations in West and North Africa, which will be complemented by frequent flyer benefits such as the ability to earn and redeem Qmiles on flights operated by Royal Air Maroc,” Lee said.
For the future, Qatar Airways hopes to continue expanding its number of flights to Morocco.
“Qatar Airways has plans to launch daily flights to Marrakech in Morocco on a code share with Royal Air Maroc. We believe that Marrakech offers tremendous prospects for the airline as it is a major tourism centre in Morocco,” Lee said.
