The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association has a new chairman.
Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Vice Chairman Yousef Abdullah Al-Benyan recently became the association's chairman.

Al-Benyan, who currently leads the global management team at Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) as its CEO and vice chairman, replaces Rashed Saud Al Shamsi as chairman.

Al-Benyan has held many roles since joining petrochemical manufacturer SABIC in 1987. Among those roles were executive vice president of corporate human resources, commercial manager for SABIC in the U.S. and Latin America and general manager of SABIC Americas.

"With unique experience spanning the Middle East, the Americas and the Far East, Yousef Al-Benyan possesses inimitable skills that have served him well in his position as CEO of one of the world's largest petrochemical companies," GPCA Secretary General Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun said. "His knowledge, cross-functional expertise and deep understanding of the industry will help the GPCA steer the industry into the next stage of its evolution. With regional governments - like Saudi Arabia with its 2030 National Development Plan - identifying petrochemicals as a key component of their diversification, steady hands like Al-Benyan's will be crucial in realizing the sector's potential."
