Suresh Bollapragada, with over two decades of expertise in software and system engineering, has come aboard DarkMatter, a global cyber security business based in the UAE, as vice president of systems engineering, the company recently announced.

Previously a senior engineer with Qualcomm and a senior software architect at Astute Networks -- both located in San Diego, California -- Bollapragada also served in software engineering roles with RC Networks and Hughes Network Systems.

While at Qualcomm, he created a 75-member security engineering team to advance technologies installed in state-of-the-art mobile devices used worldwide, such as the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy series, Google Nexus, Android devices, Microsoft Windows Phones, Nokia and Blackberry devices.

In his new position, he will be responsible for communications platform security, including mobile phone devices.

"Suresh has impressive electronic security expertise, which extends to applied security, cryptography, protocols, privacy, countermeasures, incident response and software security,” DarkMatter CEO Faisal Al Bannai said. “His long experience in software engineering and system architecture will make him an important member of our growing team, and a further achievement in DarkMatter's vision to have globally recognized cyber security technology leaders based in the UAE."

Bollapragada earned a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of California, San Diego, as well as a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur.
