Petroleum Development Oman to enhance cultural, scientific learning

Energy exploration and production company Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has entered into a deal with the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre of Culture and Science (SQHCCS) that will enable both parties to share knowledge related to the oil and gas industries.

Under the Letter of Understanding (LoU), PDO will be able to participate in SQHCCS programs and provide staff members with information on issues such as safety and management, environment and occupational health, and lean business efficiency. SQHCCS staff members will have the opportunity to visit attractions such as the PDO planetarium and Knowledge World's EcoOman Centre, as well as PDO projects like Miraah solar energy and Nimr reed beds.

"PDO is very pleased to sign this agreement with such a respected organisation as the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre of Culture and Science," PDO Managing Director Raoul Restucci said. "It will mean both sides working closer together to share and spread knowledge and deepen understanding on matters of common interest through exchange visits, meetings and presentations."

The knowledge sharing deal with SQHCSS is part of PDO's commitment to establishing strong relationships with external stakeholders. PDO accounts for approximately 70 percent of crude-oil production and almost all natural-gas supply in Oman.
