Khalifa University's newly expanded campus will be featuring a four-story gymnasium, which will be one of the largest fitness facilities in the United Arab Emirates located in an academic institution.
Managed by fitness professionals and personal trainers, the gym will have separate facilities for men and women and will feature cardiovascular and weight lighting equipment. There will also be studios for yoga and martial arts, as well as multi-use courts for a variety of sports such as basketball and volleyball.
"Khalifa University strongly believes in promoting a healthy lifestyle among its student body, faculty and staff," Khalifa University Executive Vice President Arif Al Hammadi said. "Indoor sporting facilities that offer a variety of activities and support are especially important in the UAE, where the weather is not always conducive to outdoor sport. We hope that our new amenities inspire our community to get active and take care of their health, which in turn will contribute to their efforts in excelling in productivity and innovation."
In addition to the gym, Khalifa University's expanded campus will feature a new student hub, a large auditorium that can accommodate 500 people, classrooms, research facilities and engineering labs. The expansion is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
