Abu Dhabi is an ideal
location for shipping, storage and re-exporation, while Belgium offers
advanced technology and other expertise that can benefit a growing
economy, according to
Al-Taher Musbeh Al-Kindi, 2nd deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Al-Kindi
was speaking at the Abu Dhabi-Belgium Business Forum, which attracted
more than 150 Belgian and Emirati companies to the United Arab Emirates'
capital city recently.
The forum focused on ways to increase commercial, economic and technical
cooperation between the two countries. Al-Kindi emphasized that it was
also an opportunity to discuss ways of boosting investments and trade
exchange between companies.
Also in
attendance were Pieter de Crem, Belgian secretary of State for
Foreign Trade; Dominique Mineur, ambassador of Belgium to the UAE; and Abu Dhabi
Chamber board members Sanad Al-Miqbali, Ahmed Al Soudin, Hamad Al-Awadhi
and
Khan Zaman.
During the forum, De Crem
praised the relationship between the two nations.
“On the international level, the UAE
occupies the 16th place in the list of international partners to Belgium, which
makes it the most important trade partner to Belgium in the Arab world," he said.
