The Dubai
Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a trade delegation
from Belgium at the Chamber’s head office led by Pieter De Crem,
Belgium’s secretary of state for foreign trade.
In
attendance at the meeting were Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd vice chairman of the Dubai
Chamber; Atiq Juma Nasib, senior vice president of commercial services at the Dubai
Chamber; Qaisar Hijazin, secretary general of the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg
Chamber of Commerce; and 30 representatives from Belgium’s private and
public sectors.
“Dubai is an ideal partner for Belgium as a re-export hub
with strong links across the Middle East, Africa and South East Asia," Al Shirawi said. "The
emirate offers plenty of incentives and advantages to Belgian companies, such
as its ideal location, world-class infrastructure, investor-friendly business
environment, and attractive free zones."
De Crem praised the Chamber for its work in enhancing cooperation between
companies in the two nations. After the meeting, there were around 70 bilateral
discussions held between members of the visiting delegation and representatives
from the business community in Dubai. During the meetings, the parties reviewed
mutual cooperation ideas and possible joint ventures.
